CORPUS CHRISTI ? Water Street Seafood Restaurants announces the following promotions:

- Ernie Bradley has been promoted from floor manager to sommelier. Water Street put Bradley through about a year of training at the International Wine Guild in Denver, Colo., to help him earn the distinction of certified master sommelier. As sommelier, Bradley develops wine lists, pairs wines with different foods, sets up wine dinners with vintners and makes wine purchases for Water Street restaurants. He also helps customers make wine choices.

- Richard Gonzales has been promoted from kitchen manager to executive chef for all Water Street Seafood Restaurants.

Morgan Street Seafood celebrates 50 years in business

CORPUS CHRISTI ? The smell of shrimp, crabs and fish doesn’t make Charlie Alegria wince. He loves everything about the products he sells and the customers who buy them, just as his father did.

The 54-year-old owner of Morgan Street Seafood Market has spent most of his life in and around that fish market, which his father opened in 1960 as Seven Seas Fish Market. This Valentine’s Day, he celebrates 50 years in business.

“The thing I remember most about him was his love of the business and his enthusiasm in doing something he really enjoyed,” said Alegria, whose father, Richard, who died in 1994. “He took a lot of pride in doing the job right.”
