Basic Training: Forming a U.S. Charity

Q. :  I want to register a Charity in the USA. I’m a citizen of Nepal and currently residing in Nepal. To promote the charity and its presence in US I want to register it in USA. How can I go about this?

A.:  When you register a charity in the United States, you actually have to choose a specific state where you intend to register (there is no country-wide law concerning the initial registration of charities).  The choice of “which state is best for registration” may depend on (1) where you think more of your donors will be based, (2) where your charity’s board is likely to live, or (3) other factors, depending on the purpose of the charity. Generally, anyone wanting to form a not-for-profit corporation in the U.S. will need to follow these steps:

  1. Choose a state and determine the registration requirements (which you can often learn on the websites of the Secretary of State of the state you’ve chosen)
  2. Determine who will serve as your initial Board of Directors (some states require a minimum of 3 people U.S. residents in

Psychopaths To Blame For Destroying Good Reputations Online

Psychopaths to Blame for 98% of Internet Libel

You’re aware by now that the Internet has become the new public commons, where ideas and opinions are trafficked along with goods and services. Like the public commons of a high school, attacks to reputations are also floating around in there. And if you’re one of those people whose business or personal life has been targeted for abuse, you know that it’s even more frustrating than high school. Commercial Credit Cards: 7 Key Steps Before Signing the Dotted Line

Major credit card issuers are targeting small business owners in an all out effort to expand its commercial credit card business.

According to Synovate, issuers sent out a whopping 46 million commercial credit card offers in just the first quarter of 2010! That’s over a 250% increase from the previous year while consumer credit card offers only increased by 29%.

With these types of numbers it’s led people like Senator Charles Schumer to believe that credit card issuers are attempting to evade the new restrictions on consumer cards.

Even though the CARD Act does not address commercial credit cards business owners should take a careful look at the benefits that these cards provide over personal credit cards.

Why Annual Performance Reviews Are a Waste of Time

I have friends from college where our only communication right now is an annual Christmas missive, detailing all the high points of the year about to end. I’m always delighted to hear their news and to live vicariously through the stories they share. But these are not the people I turn to in a crisis. These are not the people whose lives are intimately intertwined with mine. If our lives can be seen as concentric circles, these friends are not in the innermost circles.

Think of all the relationships you’ve ever had–with romantic partners, children, parents, friends and colleagues. Which ones were most important to you? And of those, how many relationships truly flourished if you communicated only once a year?

When it comes to business, you want to keep your employees close. Perhaps not “inner sanctum” close, but certainly more than “Christmas card” close.

That’s why communication with your employees needs to be an ongoing process. As I mention in my article, “R-E-S-P-E-C-T: The Key to Employee Loyalty,” you’ll want to give them regular feedback so that they know where they are on track, and where they need improvement. F. John Reh also note

How Business Monitoring Tracks, Manages and Protects Your Business Credit

Monitoring and protecting the credit reports you’ve established for your business should be a part of your company’s overall strategy.

Why is it so important?

First of all, before you apply for credit with a supplier or lender you should know firsthand where you stand with your reports and scores. This will give you better insight into what type of financing you may qualify for ahead of time and whether or not the time is right to apply.

Secondly, consumers are not the only target when it comes to identity theft so in order to protect your company you must keep a close eye on any unusual activity on your reports.

Finally, if any errors or outdated information appears on your business credit reports you can take the necessary steps to correct the mistakes.

Incorrect information can jeopardize your company’s ability to obtain credit so correcting errors plays a key part in business monitoring.

There are various requirements you have to put out when you request for a mortgage loan. One of those is to have the property appraised. Home assessment is important in order for the lender to verify the value of the property. A third party evaluator will likely be contracted to look into the house. The evaluator will consider quite a lot of aspects before he can determine the market value of the property. Understanding the operations involved as well as the factors considered will enable you to definitely check if the property is evaluated accurately.

Home appraisal is unavoidable mainly if you are going to submit an application for the credit loan or if you are likely to apply your property as security for a loan. Without proper appraisal, you will not be granted with the loan.

The job of the appraiser:
