Business news: Harleysville Savings Bank honored by North Penn United Way

HARLEYSVILLE — Harleysville Savings Bank received the Corporate Community Service Award from the North Penn United Way at the annual campaign celebration. This award is given to a company that displayed extraordinary service to the community.

The bank also received an Award of Excellence for an employee campaign that exceeded last year by 10 percent or more, a Team Award for an employee campaign of 70 to 90 percent participation, and a Community Hero Award which is given to companies where employee per capita giving is $156 and above.

“Our team knows that our company has historically matched 100 percent of the team’s contribution to the United Way and they willingly support the United Way’s campaign each year,” said Ron Geib, president and CEO.

Harleysville Savings Bank has seven full-service branches in Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Blackboard goes mobile at MCCC

BLUE BELL/POTTSTOWN — Montgomery County Community College now offers a free Blackboard Mobile Learn app that will bring interactive teaching and learning to smartphones.

According to Blackboard Inc., MCCC is the only community college licensing Blackboard Mobile Learn in the five-state region of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The college invested in this convenient technology option as a way to further support students’ success in the classroom and beyond.

The Blackboard Mobile Learn app provides easy access to assignments, announcements, grades, podcasts and discussion boards on Blackboard.

Faculty can post assignments and grades, interact with student discussions and place announcements. Any updates, loaded via computer or mobile device, will seamlessly sync with the content in the Blackboard Mobile Learn app.

The Blackboard Mobile Learn app is available for Android devices, Blackberry smartphone devices, HP web OS devices, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on a Wi-Fi connection.
